About

Welcome to Northampton’s longest running Aikido Club

Aikido is a Martial Art that  can be used as an extremely effective form of self defence, which does not rely on strikes or kicks to subdue an aggressor.

This is why many of the techniques help form the basis of control and restraint training taught to many different professions such as the Police and Nursing.

We’re a very friendly group and welcome anyone of any grade, style or association to practise with us to share and enjoy Aikido.

We practice in the Berrywood Hospital in the Duston area of Northampton, for further details regarding practice times etc, please refer to the Class Times and Costs page on this site.

Aikido Northampton’s Senior Instructor is  Aubrey Smith 4th Dan, who has practiced for 48 years.

Regular instruction at the club is provided by Steve Copson 4th Dan and Cathy Knight 3rd Dan.

We are members of the Yama Arashi UK Association and are therefore affiliated to the British Aikido Board (BAB).

Please feel free to review the details here but also phone or pop along to the club for a chat about whether Aikido is right for you.
